Day 12 – Thrusday– 2/12/2026
So, school finished up and I stepped out into a total gale. It was about 50 degrees out, but the wind was the real story. It was so strong it was actually pushing me around. I honestly don’t know how, but everyone here in Montpellier was still sitting outside at this French restaurant. It looked crazy with the gusts, but I figured I would join them.
I went with the salmon plate. It was 14.99 euros, which felt like a pretty good deal at first. Then the food actually showed up. The portion was small. I am not even joking—I ate every single grain of rice on that plate and I was still a bit hungry. So I ended up having to order coffee and dessert.
Anyway, after lunch I just started wandering around the local area. I popped into a few little shops just to see what they had. It was nice for a bit, but then the clouds rolled in and it started to rain. I decided it was probably time to head back toward the apartment.
On the way back, I just stumbled into this photography exhibit. I wasn’t planning on it, but I’m glad I stopped. It was just a bunch of candid shots from all over the world and different time periods. There wasn’t a big theme or anything, just casual photos. It was a cool way to kill some time and get out of the rain.
Eventually, I headed back out into the drizzle. One thing I’ve noticed since I’ve been here: not many people use umbrellas. Even when it is raining, the locals just walk through it like it’s nothing. I guess it is just part of the culture. Anyway, i will have to go out again because i do not have any food at the apartment. I need to buy some eggs, salad and fruit. I am not eating much for diner.
